about

When I was living in Cork, I walked almost daily over the St. Vincent Bridge. On this bridge was a sign that read “CB-R847-B-010.” I still have no idea what the sign was for or what the letters and numbers meant but it inspired me to compose a piece that, like the string of letters and numbers, would string seemingly disparate sonic happenings into a single narrative. The album was started, however, after returning to the US and receiving a few “sonic postcards” from my former colleague. I began playing with some manipulation of these field recordings and started to compose something using them. I stitched them together with lofi phone recordings of my final two days in Cork and some other environmental recordings I made in Mississippi. Months later, now living in Tennessee, I continued the arrangement. I compiled a small library of recordings made on my phone, my Zoom h4, along with other object and guitar improvisations. Small, raw snippets of sonic ambiguity vaguely linked by the musings of the day and happenstance. I kept arranging until I arrived at a story about nothing.
